Our first sanctuary horses were adopted in May of 2007 from the Forest Service after they were gathered from the Carson National Forest to reduce the herd numbers.

From the left you see Luna, Blazing Sun Bay, El Rito Fire and her foal, El Rito Moon...

...and then you see them running away from the camera!

Pictured above and below is Blazing Sun Bay, roaming among the sage in northern NM. Sun is the lead mare for the Sky Mountain Band, ever watchful for their safety out on the range.

Luna foaled in late May, giving birth to a colt, Starlight.  Luna and Starlight are pictured in the corral shortly after Starlight's arrival...and later out on the range of their summer home in northern, NM.

El Rito Fire and El Rito Moon graze together on their summer range in northern NM.

El Rito Moon casts one last look before heading into the pines.
